Hello, and welcome to my online home…

Hopefully the fact that you're here means you enjoyed something I wrote. If this is the case, thanks.

I suppose the first reason you come to a place like this is to find out more about a person. Well, to begin with, my name is Jessica Alexander and I write children’s books. Two of these are available now:

Look Both Ways is a book for preschoolers. It follows the tale of a little squirrel named Filbert. Filbert faces danger out in the big, wide world when he makes the journey to Grandma’s house to borrow some nuts for the soup his mother is making. It takes a very close call for Filbert to finally realize the importance of being safe and responsible when he is out on his own.

This Is The Dream is for kids of all ages. It is a true story about the civil rights movement. In it, I hope you will discover that when people come together to create nonviolent change, it can have dramatic and lasting results. Our world today is not as it was fifty years ago, thanks to the brave actions of ordinary people. Those people are the heroes of the story.

My next book, This Is The Game, is forthcoming from HarperCollins. It follows the history of baseball in America. I am also right now working on some stuff for middle grades/teens and also a play. I hope I can find the time and patience to finish! Writing is work, it requires persistence – never let anyone tell you otherwise.

Aside from the writing, I am mom to four wildly amazing children. We live in Roswell, Georgia with two ferrets called Mrs. Slocombe and Mrs. Axelbee, a fish who is nameless and a giant rabbit named Galveston.

Thanks for visiting. Come again!
